George Sand als Chopin-Interpretin

Archiv für Musikwissenschaft
Band 72 / 2015 / Heft 4
S. 245–261

Most biographers and commentators of Chopin realize that they must be wary of whatever George Sand, in her boundless imagination and memorable phrasing, wrote about him. They sometimes forget, however, and consequently, much Chopin literature is embellished and disfigured by an exceptionally tendacious interpretation of the artist and his work. The result is all the more regrettable as Sand had important things to say about music, especially when the voice was involved-or instruments which spoke less equivocally than Chopin’s piano.
